Ford Taurus

The Ford Taurus immediately became a widely known and accepted vehicle in the market upon its introduction and release in 1986, Its aerodynamic design made it a futuristic concept among all the other cars that basically looked the same at that time. In a few years’ time, the Taurus easily became Ford’s crowning glory, being its best selling car model. The Taurus is a front wheel drive vehicle, which gives it great stability and control in winding roads. It fits nicely in the midsize sedan category, which means that it is lightweight and that the engine will not experience unnecessary burden. The interior of the car is satisfyingly spacious, with enough head and legroom to seat a family of five comfortably on a daylong trip across the state. There was also a model that came in a station wagon body, built for the family-oriented driver. This increased passenger and storage space to near double. Following this model, a sports version was released, the Taurus SHO sports sedan. This, in turn, became more popular with the urban youth. When the Taurus was first introduced, it became one of the best selling cars of Ford. However, when it was redesigned in the mid 1990’s, public interest suddenly dropped, which prompted used Ford to pull the plug on the production of the model. Fortunately, Ford realized the potential of the model, decided to forego its termination, and in fact came up with upgrades and new concept models to continue the Taurus line. The new Taurus now boasts of a powerful 3.5-liter V6 engine, coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission. Also, the car now comes in a four wheel drive system, which makes it truly live up to the Taurus name. Just stick in a couple of horns and it is set for bullfighting. The suspension has been retuned and refined, making a more comfortable riding experience. Automatic stability control and ABS makes the car a lot safer than the older version. Ford estimates that the new Taurus will accelerate from a standstill to 60 miles per hour in a mere 6.5 seconds. With the new suspension system, high-speed travel is made safer and more fuel-efficient. The Taurus was designed to seat five full-grown passengers with a lot of head and legroom. The trunk has a very spacious capacity, which comes in handy in case the family decides to go out of town. The new Taurus is truly a force to reckon on the road today.
